Holdyard books parking and nothing else, as an independent service provider. No airline, hotel chain, government agency or other brand is affiliated with it. None endorses it. None sponsors it, and it owns and operates no lot of its own.

What a Quote Must Contain to Be Worth Anything

This counter's only product is a document, so it is worth being exact about what makes one good. Two items decide it, and both make the document read worse.

The single number problem

Most parking quotes are one number and a date range. That is enough to compare on price and not enough to decide anything, because the number is the smallest part of what a car standing for nine days actually costs.

A quote built to be useful has a fixed shape, prints the same items in the same order every time, and does not vary its shape to look better in a particular case. Fixed shape is what makes two quotes comparable at all.

The two items that decide it

Whose charge each addition is. A daily rate plus a list of additions is only readable if each addition says who levies it. An addition this counter controls can be waived by this counter. An addition the lot levies cannot be, by anybody here, ever. Merging the two into one list of extras hides the only distinction that matters when something goes wrong.

The questions that got no answer. A quote that prints only what came back reads cleanly and misleads. If four questions went out and two were answered, the document has to say which two failed. Otherwise the reader reasonably assumes silence was assent.

Both items make a quote look worse than a competitor's. That is the test of whether a desk means it.

What a fixed shape prevents

It prevents the small dishonesty of arranging a document around its best feature. A quote whose order changes case by case is a sales sheet. A quote whose order never changes can be read down the left edge and compared without trust.

It also prevents omission by accident. When the shape is fixed, a missing item is visible to the person writing it, not just to the reader.

The date on it

A quote is a statement about a day. Rates move, ground fills, and an answer a lot gave in July is not evidence about February. So a date belongs on the document and on each answer inside it.

That is the least impressive sentence in this article and the one that saves the most arguments.

What this counter does

The quote line sets out the nine items in order, including the list of unanswered questions. Requesting one costs nothing, needs no account, and involves no card field anywhere on this site.
